Sub-cautious

Acrylic on canvas - After loads of wastage of colors and canvases, this is the first painting that I loved. It is small. I gave a black color, then painted female figure and was not happy with it, so again gave a dark color wash to paint something new. Now I don’t want to paint anything new, this is my final painting. The woman of dreams is buried under sub-cautious mind.

Hi

I just started this blog to display my paintings and may be write about them. Feel free to let me know what you think about them.

I have wasted so many canvases and colours over a last few months that I almost thought I should give up on painting. I know people who know me would be surprised to know I actually thought of giving up. Nothing absolutely nothing could satisfy me. Every time I started painting I thought about same questions, will it sell, Is it nice, is it beautiful, Does it show my figure drawing skills, does it follow principles? That was the problem! ….all of these questions was useless.

My couple of interactions with Debu actually was very fruitful. He clearly told me that the approach is wrong. Don’t think about selling, just do it!.... I clearly do not intent to sell now and to my surprise I am more content with my paintings now.

Another helpful interaction was with Mr. Vikram Kulkarni. I personally love his paintings and think he is one great artist. My question to him was that I feel all subjects restrictive, and then he told me that subject cannot be restrictive but approach can be restrictive.
Thanks to Debu and Vikram for clearing my doubts.
